Our client is a global, PE-backed, P&C Insurance company looking to expand their investment accounting team.
The Investment Accounting Director plays a key role in the Finance team, supporting senior management in investment accounting. Responsibilities include overseeing the financial close process for both domestic and international entities, ensuring accurate U.S. GAAP and local reporting, and managing accounting estimates and controls. Proficiency with Clearwater Analytics and Oracle ERP is required, along with knowledge of various accounting standards including U.S. GAAP and international frameworks such as IFRS. The role also involves guiding the professional development of team members.
Responsibilities
- Directs daily accounting operations and monthly financial closes for investment portfolios under various accounting standards, including U.S. GAAP and local bases.
- Acts as a primary contact for issue resolution and collaborates with colleagues for ad hoc regulatory reporting.
- Enhances and manages processes for investment accounting entries and reconciliations, including working with ERP/HFM teams and maintaining the investment COA.
- Leads Clearwater implementation projects.
- Prepares and presents quarterly credit allowance analyses to senior management and coordinates review of meeting minutes.
- Oversees U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting for alternative investments and manages the Clearwater LPx tool.
- Advises on technical accounting issues, including drafting policy memorandums.
- Completes the investment section for the annual AM Best Survey.
- Reviews U.S. GAAP financial statement footnotes and prepares the investment section of the cash flow statement, coordinating with the Financial Reporting Team.
- Manages the career development and performance reviews of team members.
