With growing regulatory and market demands, financial institutions are facing increasing pressure to integrate climate risk management into their operations. The ability to collect, structure, and report on sustainability-related data is becoming critical to ensuring compliance and effective risk assessment.

We are looking for a Climate Risk Data Specialist to support the development of data-driven solutions that enable financial institutions to meet regulatory requirements and enhance their sustainability strategies. This role involves managing large-scale environmental data, ensuring compliance with evolving climate risk frameworks, and contributing to the design of robust reporting methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Infrastructure & Processing: Develop and optimize data pipelines to collect, store, and process climate risk and sustainability metrics (e.g., carbon emissions, geolocation data, ESG indicators).
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Reporting: Support financial institutions in aligning with climate-related regulations by providing expertise on data structuring, risk measurement, and disclosure requirements.
  • Business & Technical Alignment: Engage with stakeholders to gather business requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and support the implementation of climate risk data frameworks.
  • Governance & Quality Assurance: Implement best practices for data governance, reconciliation, and quality control, ensuring compliance with international standards such as BCBS 239.
  • Regulatory Analysis & Advisory: Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory frameworks, advising financial institutions on sustainable finance regulations and their impact on reporting practices.
  • Issue Resolution & Documentation: Investigate data inconsistencies, reconcile discrepancies across reporting systems, and maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, definitions, and lineage.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in financial services, risk management, or regulatory reporting, with a focus on climate risk and sustainability data.
  • Strong knowledge of data management, processing, and modeling in the context of financial risk and ESG reporting.
  • Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Python, or similar data-oriented programming languages.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality standards, and regulatory frameworks (BCBS 239, EU Taxonomy, CSRD, Pillar III).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, capable of translating complex data insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of prudential reporting frameworks (FINREP, CRR2, CRR3, Basel IV) and their intersection with sustainability requirements.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and cross-functional teams.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to climate finance transformation by leveraging data to enhance risk management strategies. If you have a passion for sustainability, financial risk, and data analytics, we encourage you to apply.
