Oliver James have partnered with an exciting global speciality insurance and reinsurance company, to appoint their Head of Compliance to the Irish organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Compliance Manager looking to advance in their career, or a newly appointed Head of Compliance seeking a dynamic company to grow with. The role will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer. As a key member of the wider Compliance team the role will hold the PCF-12 function and be the primary point of contact for the Central Bank of Ireland.



The successful candidate will have a varied day-to-day which will look like but not be limited to the below;


  • Provide advice and assistance to the Board, management team and relevant employees in respect of existing and new regulatory requirements under the Irish (and other relevant) regulatory regime(s).
  • Provide bespoke training and guidance (as required), and assist the Board and management team with the development and maintenance of the organisations policies, procedures and controls (ensuring they address relevant regulatory requirements and are sufficiently robust)
  • Provide prompt and accurate regulatory / compliance advice and assistance in respect of strategic and business matters
  • Work closely with the HGS Head of Compliance to ensure HGS shared compliance services are appropriate for the organisation (including generic training, horizon scanning, compliance monitoring, financial crime and business conduct). This will involve the preparation of the Annual Compliance Plan and its presentation to the Board for approval



The successful candidate will possess the following core competencies;


  • Proven track record as senior compliance professional with a comprehensive knowledge of Irish regulatory requirements and expectations, as they pertain to an insurer
  • Have a background in general insurance
  • A thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations and best practices
  • Good awareness of best practice re. governance arrangements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels
  • Ability to think critically, identify and analyse problems, and develop effective solutions
