About the Role

A dynamic and well regard life insurance company is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Financial Analyst to play a critical role in financial reporting, accounting, and analysis for their reinsurance segment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial reporting, particularly in reinsurance structures, and will contribute to the strategic financial objectives of the organization. The role involves collaborating with various departments, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reinsurance reporting and analysis under multiple accounting frameworks, including US GAAP, IFRS, statutory, and Bermuda regulations.
  • Draft and coordinate accounting memos and governance documentation for new or amended reinsurance agreements.
  • Oversee financial statement disclosures, including statutory reinsurance schedules and regulatory filings.
  • Develop and maintain trend analysis and key financial metrics related to reinsurance transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing responses to audit inquiries and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Manage intercompany reconciliations and ensure accuracy in reinsurance settlements.
  • Analyze the financial impact of reinsurance agreements, preparing balance sheet and income statement movements.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship within the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Partner with actuarial, legal, and tax teams to support financial modeling, regulatory reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in financial reporting or accounting, with exposure to reinsurance transactions.
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance structures (coinsurance, modified coinsurance, funds withheld, excess of loss, etc.).
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, statutory accounting (RBC), and IFRS; experience with Bermuda regulatory frameworks is a plus.
  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation, analysis, and auditing.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate financial insights to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience mentoring junior team members.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with finance, actuarial, tax, and operational teams.
  • Technical proficiency with Excel, Oracle, Essbase, or similar financial systems.

Location: Fully remote

Salary: $80K - $130K base + bonus
