Financial Controller

Location: Dallas, Texas (open to re-locators)

A rapidly growing, tech-driven insurance provider is seeking a Financial Controller to lead and develop a high-performing finance team. This role is critical to the company's expansion and will oversee key financial reporting functions, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 11 finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, and Compliance teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Champion professional growth and team engagement to build a resilient and high-performing finance function.

Financial Reporting and Controls

  • Drive the preparation and presentation of financial reports in compliance with US GAAP and SAP, providing insights to senior leadership.
  • Establish and refine internal controls, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in financial operations.
  • Enhance financial processes and implement best practices to support a fast-scaling organization.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, including audit requirements, tax filings, and reporting obligations.
  • Act as the primary liaison for auditors and regulatory bodies, addressing inquiries and ensuring adherence to all financial and operational policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification required.
  • 10+ years of financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years in the insurance sector.
  • Strong expertise in GAAP, SAP, and insurance-related regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing teams, driving efficiency, and implementing process improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
